CTR’s Annual Homeful for the Holidays
The Connecticut Association of REALTORS® is once again partnering with the CT Coalition to End Homelessness for the annual be homeful for the holidays campaign. The funds raised through this campaign are used to help prevent CT families from becoming homeless by providing emergency assistance to keep them in their homes.
This campaign is specifically targeted at children and their families who are on the brink of becoming homeless to help keep them from having to enter a shelter and experience the trauma of homelessness. As an added bonus, for every $25 tax-deductible donation, the CT REALTORS® Foundation will gift a plush Paddington bear (or backpack) to a child living in a shelter for the holidays.

You can also help by promoting this wonderful program via social media – on your personal and business social media pages and websites to encourage families and friends to join in the fight to prevent homelessness across Connecticut.

THE THOMAS MERTON CENTER was founded in 1974 by a group of concerned individuals who saw a need for services to the economically disadvantaged people in the city of Bridgeport. As the times have changed and the needs of the people we serve have changed we have developed programs that address issues such as housing, nutritional needs, healthcare needs, parenting issues and youth at risk.

HOMEOWNERSHIP MATTERS
The benefits of purchasing and owning your place of residence are both financial and emotional – pride in homeownership and the feeling of security are huge intangible benefits. An obvious financial benefit of homeownership is the appreciation of your home over time. Housing markets do move in cycles, but houses will almost always appreciate to some degree over time. Other benefits include property tax deductions, capital gains exclusion, and other preferential tax treatment.
